Overview

If you find yourself in Makassar and crave a true taste of South Sulawesi’s culinary heritage, Pallubasa Serigala offers an authentic experience that’s hard to beat. Nestled on Jl. Serigala in Mamajang Dalam, this eatery is revered for its signature dish, pallubasa—a rich, savory beef stew infused with a unique blend of spices and topped generously with grated coconut and serundeng. The addition of a raw egg in some variants adds a velvety texture that elevates the meat’s tenderness and depth of flavor.

The restaurant’s menu showcases a variety of local favorites such as Coto Makassar, Pallubasa Campur, and Lombo, each bringing forward the robust and earthy essence distinctive to South Sulawesi cuisine. Sides like kacang mete (cashew nuts) and refreshing es teh manis complement the hearty meals perfectly, balancing richness with subtle sweetness.

Dining at Pallubasa Serigala is more than just about the food; it’s an immersion into Makassar’s vibrant street food culture. The space is modest and can become quite crowded during peak hours, emphasizing the need to visit during off-peak times if you want a relaxed atmosphere. Despite the limited seating, the staff remains attentive, providing prompt service that keeps the experience flowing smoothly even when the restaurant buzzes with eager patrons.

This spot appeals especially to food enthusiasts who seek genuine, unapologetically rich local flavors without the frills—those willing to embrace a bustling environment in exchange for a memorable meal. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a local craving comfort food, Pallubasa Serigala delivers a compelling culinary journey marked by tradition and bold taste.

Overall, the balance of tender meat, spiced broth, and textural toppings makes each bowl deeply satisfying. This restaurant stands as a testament to Makassar’s rich gastronomic identity and remains a must-visit for anyone passionate about exploring Indonesia’s regional specialties.

The best Pallubasa in Makassar hands down! Service was great and the price is quite affordable. Definitely a must try if you are nearby.

A must-try place when you visit Makassar! My favorite is the Pallubasa campur (mixed meat and offal) without egg. The portion may look small, but it’s actually quite filling. Don’t forget to try the cashew nuts too — I usually buy some extra to enjoy later at the hotel If possible, try to avoid lunch hours, as it’s usually crowded and parking can be difficult.

Pallubasa Serigala in Makassar is a popular spot known for its rich and flavorful pallubasa. The broth is savory and thick, with tender meat and a generous topping of grated coconut that adds a unique touch to the dish. It's definitely one of the must-try traditional foods when visiting Makassar. While the food is undeniably good, the place itself is not very spacious. It can feel a bit cramped, especially during peak hours when it gets quite crowded. Seating is limited, so it's best to visit during off-hours if you want a more relaxed experience. Overall, Pallubasa Serigala is worth visiting for the taste, but be prepared for a tight space and a bit of a wait if you come during busy times.

Arrive in makassar and directly went to this place. One of the most favorite local food destination. The taste is original but it’s too salty for me. The portion looked small but enough for me. The meat itself not so special as it comes from the local. But still it’s a must to try if you come to makassar.

Super popular among locals. Very rich and thick broth. A little bit too salty for my liking, but still hella delicious. Try it with egg, it tastes supper yummy! Servers were quick, but the cashier (a woman with acnes and hijab) were super rude and harsh. She threw my change money. Be nice with your customers, one day your attitude will bite you back. The place is a little bit cramped and hot.
